Ignition Interlock Device (IID) Monitoring

FLHSMV Ignition Interlock Compliance Services

Tri-County Human Services provides Ignition Interlock Device (IID) monitoring and compliance services for individuals referred by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV).

An Ignition Interlock Device is a breath-testing device installed in a vehicle that prevents the vehicle from starting if alcohol is detected. Florida law requires certain individuals convicted of DUI to install and maintain an IID as a condition of license reinstatement or restricted driving privileges.

What Does Tri-County Do?

Tri-County Human Services does not install ignition interlock devices.

Instead, we provide monitoring and support services for individuals who have been referred by FLHSMV due to:

  • Ignition Interlock violations
  • Breath alcohol violations
  • Missed required device retests
  • Device tampering concerns
  • Ongoing IID compliance requirements

Our DUI Program staff work with referred drivers to review violations, discuss compliance requirements, and help individuals meet Florida’s IID obligations.

Who May Be Required to Have an IID?

An Ignition Interlock Device may be required for:

  • Certain first-time DUI convictions
  • DUI convictions involving elevated blood alcohol levels
  • Multiple DUI convictions
  • Drivers seeking restricted driving privileges following a DUI conviction
  • Individuals ordered by the court or FLHSMV to participate in the IID program

Requirements vary according to Florida statutes and individual case circumstances.

If You Have Received a FLHSMV IID Violation Notice

FLHSMV may require drivers to report to a licensed DUI Program following certain IID violations.

If you receive a referral letter from FLHSMV regarding an IID violation, it is important to contact our office promptly to schedule any required appointments and avoid potential impacts to your driving privileges.
