Tri-County’s Agape Open House
An Open House was held on December 05th, 2023 for community members to tour the newly renovated Agape House. Agape is a 10-bed Residential, Level III Halfway House for women serving Polk, Hardee, and Highlands Counties. The home is located in Winter Haven, FL and provides its residents with easy access to community services, public transportation, and employment opportunities. The average length of stay at the Agape House is 4 – 6 months. One of the primary supporters of Agape is United Way of Central Florida.
The Agape program helps women 18 years and older who have experienced long-term substance dependency and mental illness by re-enforcing to them how to apply the recovery skills learned from previous more intensive treatment while also reaching their optimal level of independence.
The Agape House is unique in that its structure foundationally holds the intensity of a Level II Residential Facility, while at the same time supporting the freedom and responsibility of a transitional living setting. While at Agape, the women receive individual and group counseling, plus case management services connecting them with the courts, Probation Officers, Drug Court, DCF, grief counseling through Good Shepherd Hospice, Guardian Ad Litem Volunteers, Polk Healthcare Insurance Plan, We Care Ride to Health, referral to the One-Stop Career Center and the Women’s Resource Center.
Through the years, services offered at this setting have allowed families to be reunified, lives to be changed, and women to learn skills that allow them to be fully self-supporting through their own contributions. The program lends women the opportunity to rebuild lives that were formally devasted.
